TIPS & TRICKS

AND STUFF

So you got your brand new soap stamp but how do you use it???

Stamping Tips

If you are new to using soap stamps OR if you are using a new recipe, it is always suggested to practice using your stamp on an end or scrap piece of soap before stamping your main batch.

  • The best time to stamp depends on your soap process (CP, HP, MP) and your soap recipe.

  • The hardness or your soaps will determine the best time to stamp.

  • Generally for CP soap if you cut your soap at 24 hours a good time to stamp is at 48 hours. ( Or the day after you cut )
  • By Hand : Spray your stamp with rubbing alcohol. Push your stamp into your soap evenly on all sides. Pull your soap straight out of your soap.

  • With a Mallet : You can lightly tap your stamp with a mallet if you have a hard time pressing the stamp by hand.

  • With a Press : Spray your stamp with rubbing alcohol and place your stamp where you want it on your soap. Line up your soap with your press. Allow the press to push the stamp down no more than half way into the soap.

★ The hand method is my recommended method of using your soap stamp ★

★ You can use Saran wrap or a piece of glove between your stamp and soap to help with soap sticking ★

★ Besides Isopropyl alcohol and saran wrap, some suggest cooking spray can be used ★

★ For Melt & Pour you can place a piece of 2×4 between the stamp and soap to help evenly distribute weight ★

★ Do not push the stamp ALL the way in or your soap may break apart ★

★ Do not hit your stamp with a mallet too hard or you risk breaking your stamp ★
